“As soon as we arrived, we saw that the flames were coming from the attic of the residential building,” said Karl Hüttmannsberger, commander of the Königswiesen Volunteer Fire Department, in an interview with nachrichten.at. A particular challenge in this case: Not only the house, but also the stables, in which numerous horses are housed, had to be protected from the flames.
Fire quickly brought under control
The commander was satisfied that the external attack was launched and the fire was brought under control within a very short space of time, while work was still underway in the background. “Now it’s just about the fire watch,” said the commander. Neither people nor animals were harmed.
Fire experts are scheduled to begin the investigation on Friday – then the fire departments will begin the technical clean-up work, said Hüttmannsberger.
