For 15 years now, the two-day blood donation campaign organized by the Red Cross, SV Guntamatic Ried and the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten in the SVR’s Oberbank Business Club has been an integral part of the Linz blood center’s calendar. This Tuesday and Wednesday a total of 199 people came to donate blood and thus make a significant contribution to healthcare. 183 people were approved to donate blood. Among the many blood donors were Ried’s district captain Yvonne Weidenholzer, SV Ried vice president Harald Jagereder, Ried’s Red Cross district manager Christian Dobler-Strehle and city manager Bernhard Zwielehner.

“I am pleased that the 15th edition of this extraordinary campaign was successful. Last year, more than 55,000 blood units were needed in Upper Austria, and in the Ried district alone more than 4,000 blood units were collected,” says Dieter Forsthuber, commercial director of the Blood center Linz. “Without the commitment of volunteers, medical care would be impossible because blood still cannot be produced artificially,” says Forsthuber.
