The mother, who was driving the car, was resuscitated and flown to the Graz Regional Hospital in critical condition with serious injuries. Despite the efforts of the medical team, the woman died in the hospital. Her little daughter would have turned four months old on Saturday.
Baby died on the spot
As the police reported, citing witnesses, the car had crossed into the oncoming lane, where it collided with the oncoming truck. The 27-year-old was trapped in the vehicle. Resuscitation of the three-month-old girl was unsuccessful. It died on the spot from its serious injuries. The truck driver (37) was taken to Deutschlandsberg Hospital with minor injuries. Further investigations into the accident are ongoing.
The Red Cross was deeply affected. “Our condolences go out to the relatives and friends of the family,” said district press officer Marcel Hausegger in a press release.
