The 23-year-old Tyrolean triumphed on Sunday ahead of local hero Julia Taubitz (+0.104 seconds) and her Tyrolean teammate Madeleine Egle (+0.175). For the ÖRV women it was the first individual world championship title in 64 years and the first individual medal at the world championships since 1997.
The 25-year-old European champion Egle, who started with poor health, also won her first individual World Cup medal with bronze. At the end of the title fights in Altenberg, a team relay is on the program on Sunday (2 p.m.). In the medal table, Austria leads Germany with a total of nine medals. For the Austrian Toboggan Association, it is already the most successful world championship in history with four gold medals, three silver and two bronze.
Hannah Prock had to settle for tenth place. After a moment of shock in the first run, Barbara Allmaier took 18th place. The 20-year-old had a serious fall shortly before the finish, but was able to get back to the start a short time later. “I’m just happy that I’m whole,” Allmaier said with relief.
