Large-scale operation in Steindorf near Straßwalchen: 20-year-old injured in an argument

Several police patrols and ambulances as well as the emergency medical helicopter were in action on Sunday afternoon in Steindorf near Straßwalchen: In an apartment a good three kilometers as the crow flies from the border with Upper Austria, a dispute must have gotten completely out of hand. The background was still the subject of investigations that evening, according to the police.

What was initially certain was that a 20-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district was injured. The young man probably got into such a heated argument with an acquaintance in an apartment that the woman asked the neighbor (33) for help. According to initial statements, the 20-year-old is said to have attacked the 33-year-old local with a knife as the argument continued, whereupon he fired several shots from the weapon he was carrying and then called the police. It was still unclear that evening whether he had met the 20-year-old several times.

In any case, the 20-year-old was found near the crime scene with injuries of an undetermined degree – the police did not say what type of injuries they were. The man was given first aid and taken to the Salzburg University Hospital. However, he refused further medical treatment and was then transferred to the police detention center. The police seized the knife and the small-caliber handgun at the scene. The Salzburg State Criminal Police Office is now investigating attempted grievous bodily harm or intentional grievous bodily harm. No further details were known in the evening.
