Austrian Airlines, which operates almost all flights between Vienna and Germany, is expecting adjustments and delays to the flight schedule for Thursday. The airline recommends checking your flight status online or via the app in good time. Affected passengers who provided their mobile phone number or email address when booking will be actively informed. According to current information, two connections between Vienna and Leipzig (there and back) will be canceled on Thursday, a spokeswoman for Vienna Airport said in response to an APA request. Further impairments cannot be ruled out.

The airport association ADV was concerned about the work stoppage. “The strike is bad news for German airports and thousands of passengers,” said Managing Director Ralph Beisel. The airports are not a collective bargaining party in this dispute, but will once again become the venue for the conflict of interest. The association called on Verdi to return to the negotiating table.
The Verdi union has called on around 25,000 employees in the aviation security industry to go on strike. After the rail strike by train drivers lasting several days and the industrial action in local transport announced for Friday, tens of thousands of travelers in Germany are affected by massive disruptions. Verdi justified the approach with stalled collective bargaining with the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS), saying that no agreement had been reached to increase wages in the three rounds of collective bargaining so far.
