In the Linz Zoo there are only slightly smaller red pandas, but in the New Town Hall you can admire a slightly larger specimen – although not a real one. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the partnership between the city of Linz and the Chinese city of Chengdu, a delegation from China was in Linz. As a gift, the visitors presented Mayor Klaus Luger and the city councilor Michael Raml, who is responsible for town twinning, with an oversized panda bear.

The panda is artistically decorated with motifs from the city of Linz. It reflects popular landmarks such as the Pöstlingberg, the Ars Electronica Center and the new railway bridge as well as sights from Chengdu. Anyone who wants to see the statue will have the opportunity to do so in the foyer of the New Town Hall until further notice.
