A light will shine on democracy throughout Austria on Sunday, February 25th: Numerous rallies, so-called “seas of light”, are planned on this day as a sign of respect, tolerance and diversity. These days, their holding is no longer limited to large cities such as Linz, Vienna or Salzburg.
The representatives of the municipality of Vöcklamarkt and the parishes of Vöcklamarkt and Zipf are also calling on people to take part. It is not intended to be an event against a political group (party symbols should generally be avoided), but against hate speech and exclusion, as the organizers say. The crises of our time would require a robust democracy all the more. The sea of lights, which will be created by candles and cell phone lights, will be lit on the community square from 5 p.m.
