With “an extremely dazzling program that shows the diversity that can currently be seen in dance,” Posthof boss Wilfried Steiner is once again inviting people to five Dance Day evenings from March 4th.
A highlight of Bruckner’s year is a commissioned work on the occasion of the composer’s 200th birthday: the Sao Paulo Dance Company dances the finale from his Eighth Symphony. “The Eight” is the world premiere of one of three pieces that can be experienced at the Posthof on April 12th and 13th. With the Spaniard Rocio Molina, “the best protagonist of flamenco” is a guest in Linz, Steiner is looking forward to her “uncompromising courage and breathtaking technique” at the Austrian premiere on April 24th.
The Czech master choreographer Lenka Vagnerová, born in 1985, invites you to a total work of art consisting of dance, pantomime, film, lighting design, music arrangements and singing, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s (1809–1849) short stories. The Austrian premiere on April 4th promises “one of the wildest shows in the Posthof at the limit of what is technically possible”. The Austrian contemporary dance scene is represented by two groups: The dancer and choreographer Silke Grabinger, alias SILK, who grew up in Pasching near Linz, opens the Dance Days on March 4th with her collective SILK Fluegge: “Unter_Boden” is her homage to the Austrian-Jewish icon of expressive dance, Gertrud Bodenwieser (1890–1959), who emigrated to Australia via Colombia in 1938 and shaped contemporary dance there. In her piece “Unter_Boden” Grabinger expanded their four-minute piece “Dämon Machine” from 1924 into eight variations: “We are also in a revolution, the digital one,” she draws parallels to industrialization, which Bodenwieser discussed exactly 100 years ago.
In their piece of the same name, CieLaroque from Salzburg lets you immerse yourself in “rhythm and intoxication”, sitting on stools in the middle of the audience (April 17th).
