Deserted scenes took place on Saturday afternoon on the B145 between Gmunden and Pinsdorf: A 33-year-old driver from Germany and a 50-year-old motorcyclist from the Gmunden district fought a wild duel with risky overtaking maneuvers over several kilometers. The two men probably got into an argument at a traffic light in the municipality of Gmunden around 3:45 p.m. The background was still unclear that evening; the police reported “an emotional argument.”
Chase after strife
The dispute led to a chase in which the two men not only endangered themselves, but also other road users. For example, the motorcyclist in the municipality of Pinsdorf hit the outside mirror of the car while driving and almost collided with oncoming traffic. The men slowed each other down several times – until a serious accident occurred at the level of the Sternberg.
Crashed at 80 km/h
The driver overtook the motorcyclist on the right over the acceleration lane, cut him to the left and probably slowed him down again. As a result, the motorcyclist fell at a speed of around 80 km/h and slid along the road for several hundred meters until he finally came to rest seriously injured. Witnesses immediately provided first aid until rescue and emergency medical services arrived. The 50-year-old was taken to the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, the police announced in the evening.
