Under the direction of Josef Waidhofer, the Passion according to Markus, set to music by Marco Peranda, will be performed in the former collegiate church of Baumgartenberg. The little-known Italian baroque composer lets the story of Jesus’ suffering sound through fine nuances and stirring passages in a cappella style. The program is complemented by Felix Mendelssohn’s setting of the 22nd Psalm “My God, why have you forsaken me” as well as three of Anton Bruckner’s famous motets.

Tickets for the concert in Baumgartenberg are available in advance (15 euros) at the Raiffeisenbank and at the Kulturverein Baumgartenberg (0664/3933831) as well as from the choir members. Box office: 18 euros. Visitors under 16 have free entry.

Another opportunity to experience “the onomatopoeia” with this program is on Sunday, March 17th, at 7 p.m. in the Ottensheim parish church.
