Brutal attack: 29-year-old arrested in Mondsee after Cobra operation

A 19-year-old was attacked, robbed and injured by four masked perpetrators in his apartment in Neumarkt am Wallersee (Flachgau) late on Tuesday afternoon. The perpetrators stole a small amount of money and then fled in a car. An attentive neighbor took down his license plate number and called the police. A little later they arrested a 29-year-old in Mondsee. The police said they are still searching for the three accomplices.

The four masked perpetrators broke into the apartment on Tuesday. Two of them are said to have been armed with pistols. They used it to hit the 19-year-old resident’s head several times and demanded money. The quartet of perpetrators then searched the apartment, found a small amount and made off with it. The victim was injured during the attack.

Attentive neighbor

Neighbors became aware of the noise. They saw the masked perpetrators storm out of the apartment and drive away in a car. The license plate led the way to neighboring Upper Austria to a 29-year-old from Mondseer. The Cobra arrested him a little later at his place of residence. His father had previously tried to prevent the arrest by getting in the way, swearing at the police and attacking them, so he too was temporarily arrested.

While the father was released on Wednesday, the 29-year-old was taken to Salzburg Prison on suspicion of aggravated robbery. The investigation into the three accomplices is still ongoing. According to the police, the attack probably took place in a drug-related environment.
