As reported, the biennial festival, which is one of the most important for contemporary art in Upper Austria, will take place in Braunau next year. From June 13th to 22nd, 2025 we will be looking for “realistic dreams”. The focus should be on Braunau as a venue, the entire Innviertel and realistic dreams. “Braunau doesn’t end at the Inn, we see it’s a smooth transition towards Bavaria to Simbach,” said Otto Tremetzberger from the club team. He is therefore very happy when Bavarian artists also submit projects.

In 1999, the Festival of the Regions, which around 13,500 people attended in 2023, took place in Braunau. At that time the motto was “fringe zones.” For the upcoming festival, the city mayors Waidbacher (Braunau) and Klaus Schmid (Simbach) expect that some of these submitted dreams will not just remain dreams, but will also become reality. Both are hoping for exciting projects in and around the cross-border middle center of Europe – Braunau and Simbach, which is no longer a “fringe zone”.
We are looking for projects, unconventional and artistic interventions that go beyond day-to-day politics and address the topic of “realistic dreams”. Projects that encourage people, clubs and initiatives locally to actively participate, those that take into account the entire Innviertel region with its peculiarities, extravagances and contradictions. The deadline for submitting project proposals is April 30, 2024. All submitters will be informed by email about the status of their submission by the end of June 2024. 20 to 25 projects will be selected from the open call – small projects up to 5,000 euros, medium-sized projects up to 10,000 euros and large projects up to 20,000 euros are possible. On April 4, 2024, the Festival of the Regions invites interested parties to Braunau to visit the festival location and get to know it better. The focus is also on contact with regional representatives.
