Innviertel Beer March with “positive half-time balance”

A little more than half of the Innviertel Beer March 2024 is over. “There were several events, such as the opening gala at Loryhof, which were completely sold out. The beer menus from our hosts, who have come up with really great dishes, are very well received”says Andrea Eckerstorfer, project manager of the Innviertel beer region founded in 2012 with ten breweries, giving a mid-term review.

This year the Beer March is in its twelfth round with a focus on cuisine, culture, art and of course beer. A long time ago, beer was not brewed in summer; the strong brew, comparable to bock beer, was stored on ice in cellars as early as March. Hence the name Biermärz.

The highlight of this year’s series of events was the sold-out award-winning chef event at the Fill company in Gurten. Seven chefs with a total of 16 toques served their delicacies for a good cause. What was new this year was that people didn’t eat while sitting down, but instead the chefs served the food at various stations in the company building. The food was then eaten at bar tables; the assembly hall was also part of the event.

“As they strolled casually, the guests got to talk to the chefs and also to each other. It’s great that Andreas Fill and his wife made the unique location available to us”says Eckerstorfer. The feedback on this “new format” were almost exclusively positive. “Several people have more or less registered again for the coming year.”

Money for child protection center

We cooked and feasted for a good cause. With the support of sponsors, a total of 13,000 euros were handed over to the Innviertel child protection center with locations in Braunau and Andorf. Children who have become victims of violence and abuse find protection and help there. “If there is still money left over after the final billing of the charity evening, it will be made available to the Innviertel social markets, as in previous years”says Eckerstorfer.
