The Bad Leonfelden traditional music band is not only offering a special musical program, but also a very special raffle at its Easter concert on Sunday at 7.30 p.m. in the Leonfelden town and sports hall: a painting made by the Bad Leonfelden artist John Owen will be raffled off, which pays homage to the legendary ski jumper “Eddie the Eagle”. The Brit, whose real name is Michael Edwards, made sports history in the 1980s: On the one hand, he was the first Englishman to take part in international ski jumping competitions – and on the other hand, he was one of the first jumpers to jump in the V-style that is common today. Due to the persistence with which he fulfilled his dream of the Olympics despite severe shortsightedness, he received the name “Eddie the Eagle” – and also his own film, which was released in cinemas in 2016.

The British artist John Owen, who has lived and worked in Bad Leonfelden for a long time, dedicated a painting to his compatriot that was commissioned by the former mayor of Bad Leonfelden, Alfred Hartl, and made available to the music club. The special picture, which also immortalized the then British national record of 71.5 meters, will now be raffled off at the Easter concert. Anyone who would like to win the valuable unique piece, which costs several thousand euros, can now secure their participation with the Leonfeldn musicians for ten euros per ticket. The tickets are also available at the Hochland Tourism Office on the town square and at the concert evening. This will be dominated by film music, operetta melodies and, above all, well-known hits: With the Linz baritone Nik Raspotnik, a renowned soloist has been won who is particularly known for his interpretations of Peter Alexander songs. He performs well-known songs by the unforgettable entertainer as well as popular hits from other stars.
