The president of National Institute of Cooperatives (Inacoop), Martin Fernandez, announced that the institution will put into operation a zero rate credit line for those cooperatives throughout the country that were affected by the floods.

Fernández pointed out in dialogue with Ambit that the institute took the measure after observing the serious problems that the floods and other climatic episodes generated in different parts of the country. These are 24-month credits for the purposes of collaborating with all the affected cooperatives.

“We have experienced very difficult weeks and in some departments the situation really became very complicated. In that sense, just as we did in Paysandu “Some time ago when the storm hit, where we provided a line of credit without interest or with zero interest rate, for the cooperatives that have been affected by the floods at this time, we are going to reissue it,” he explained.

“From the identification made by the Departmental Emergency Coordination Center (Cecoed) Of all the affected cooperatives, these special credits will be able to be requested without interest. We are going to generate that line that has no limit because the idea is precisely to serve all those cooperatives that really need it,” said Fernández.

“I was in contact with the secretary general of the Florida Mayor’s Office, they told me that there were some cooperatives that had really been under water but had not yet been able to evaluate the impact and the need to make repairs; that, as the water went down and a greater evaluation could be made, they would be able to have it. We do not have an amount, we do have the idea of power meet the needs of all the cooperatives that intend to do so,” added the leader.

“Surely those who need the most are the housing cooperativesespecially those that are in areas that were greatly affected by the floods, but there are also small agricultural cooperatives “that produce food, especially from farms, who also faced difficulties due to these inclement weather and there is not a single modality that is a beneficiary, but all those that have been affected by the floods will be able to access this line of credit,” concluded the president of Inacoop.
