The winners of the 22nd Linz Danube Marathon have already been decided. Their names were revealed in the Linz Tips Arena. All participants are listed on a large wall at the entrance to the marathon fair – from A to Z, in black and white. In total, more than 17,000 runners will take part in the weekend. It starts with the little ones: 2,017 children are registered for the junior marathon in the Lissfeld sports park on Saturday, and on Sunday things get serious for the “big ones”.

A half marathon veteran
Thousands of people already took the first step yesterday: they picked up their starting numbers. For Gerlinde Reindl from Pasching, this is already routine. This year she is taking part in the half marathon in Linz for the 22nd time. So far she hasn’t missed a single one. “But I have never been as well prepared as I was this year,” says the 64-year-old. After two hours she wants to cross the finish line at the main square. Whether it’s pouring rain, snowfall or heat – “I’ve experienced it all,” says the pensioner with a smile. That’s why she doesn’t see the summer temperatures announced for Sunday as an obstacle. “It’s important to drink a lot.”
