LASK interim coach Ritscher: “Have respect, but not fear”

At just 30 years old, Maximilian Ritscher is responsible for sports at LASK.

After parting ways with Thomas Sageder, the Carinthian will lead the Linz Bundesliga club on an interim basis until the end of the season. It’s not possible any longer because he doesn’t have the necessary UEFA Pro license.

“I have respect for the task, but not fear,” said Ritscher at the LASK press conference on Wednesday. Ritscher knows the club and was on the sidelines for more than a hundred games for the team under Kühbauer and Sageder.

“My goal is that we want to win every game. That is the direction for the next few weeks, and that is what I communicated to my players,” said Ritscher. He is not alone responsible for turning things around.

“We all have a responsibility. We now have to bring the players, the coaches, the sports director up to the president closer together.”

When asked about the constant hot topic of Peter Michorl, Ritscher said that the midfielder “is currently not an issue for the squad against Salzburg”.

Vujanovic: “After that we will choose the coach”

Sports director Radovan Vujanovic noted that after the 0-1 defeat against Sturm Graz it became clear “that we need to give the team new impetus.”

Vujanovic continued that when it comes to looking for a coach, they won’t rush: “We don’t want to rush into things because it’s one of the most important positions in the club.”

The requirement profile for the new coach remains the same in terms of playing philosophy. “We want to play intensively and counter-press. “We will then choose the new coach,” said Vujanovic.
