Penalties of up to 300 euros can be imposed
In the future, travelers will have to reserve and pay for their Venice excursion in advance at https://cda.ve.it/de/. After successful payment, a QR code is generated which acts as a ticket and must be presented during an inspection. Anyone traveling without a ticket must expect fines of between 50 and 300 euros.

Children under 14 years of age and overnight guests who spend at least one night in accommodation in Venice are exempt from the fee. “It is important to note that overnight guests, if they do not receive a QR code from the accommodation, must also register themselves – if the name and address of the booked accommodation is provided, the fee is waived and they will also receive a QR code,” says Polasek .
People with a European Disability Card and their carers can claim an exemption from the fee by presenting their ID and do not have to register online in advance.

First 29 test days, then permanent introduction from 2025
In order to ensure a smooth introduction of day tickets, the city administration is testing the entry fee in advance on 29 days in 2024. Specifically, this daily fee will be charged from April 25th to May 5th, 2024 and on the following weekends (Saturday and Sunday) until May 13th. and July 14, 2024 (with the exception of June 1 and 2, 2024). The entry fee is waived between 4 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. The general introduction of day tickets is planned for 2025.
The fee applies only to the ancient district. The entire mainland, the smaller islands, Tronchetto and the harbor pier are exempt from the access fee. The Piazzale Roma, Fondamenta Santa Chiara, Fondamenta Santa Lucia and San Giobbe are also free to visit.
