The first laboratory BGI Genomics was launched in Cannelloni, becoming the first of its kind in Latin America and consolidating Uruguay as an innovation hub, with an initial investment of 10 million dollars, which will reach 15 million in three years.

Canelones continues to strengthen ties with China

On the other hand, the Mayor of Canelones, Marcelo Metediera, was present at the event and highlighted that the arrival of the laboratory “demonstrates the legal transparency and stability that the department and the country offer to companies that decide to set up shop.”

“This meeting shows a strong commitment to international cooperation and that, thanks to this, investment and labor are generated,” said Metediera, after meeting with the delegation of authorities and businessmen from Guangdong, headed by Wang Ruiju, member of the local committee Chinese Communist Party.
