In a statement dated last Tuesday, Unott explains that the measure will be carried out “given the decision of the Copsa company not to pay anything owed, nor to propose any payment formula.”

In the letter, it is resolved by the management of Unott and the Copsa Workers Association (ATC) to decree a 24-hour strike for all workers on Wednesday the 24th.
“Let’s hope that the Executive power lives up to the needs of the workers, protecting their right to work and salary, and puts a stop to this new abuse by the Copsa company,” concludes the joint statement between Unott and the PIT-CNT.
The situation at Copsa “has been going on for a long time”, according to Unott
Miguel Marrero, representative of Unottexplained to Telenoche that the situation between the workers and the company “has been going on for a long time”, since “Copsa has not paid its workers accordingly for more than a decade.”
“This time they have added a new breach and that is that they have not been paid part of their March salary,” said Marrero. Likewise, the union representative commented that the transport company had promised on Tuesday to transfer a payment formula, but then reported that “it does not have money” and that “it does not know when it will have it.”
In that sense, he stressed that the strike will not be lifted beyond the tripartite meeting this morning at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS)where a solution to the problem will be sought.
“There are about 400 salaried workers that we represent with Unott, and there are 500 more workers who are small owners of the company who are in the same situation, without collecting their debts,” he said. Marrero also stated that Copsa is the only company in the sector that is failing to comply with its obligations.
