Experiment in the laboratory, talk to an engineer or gain insights into technical companies: at yesterday’s international “Girls’ Day”, 135 companies from Upper Austria opened their doors to arouse the interest of 824 girls from 100 schools in technical professions. “Girls’ curiosity is a valuable asset that needs to be promoted,” said Deputy State Governor Christine Haberlander (VP), welcoming 17 students at the State Service Center (LDZ) in Linz.
13-year-old Sandra Primetshofer was able to get a taste of the theory and practice of surveying technology at the LDZ. “The coolest thing was being able to use the devices,” said Primetshofer from the St. Georgen am Walde middle school.
“Justice Challenge” with quiz
How do you actually become a public prosecutor or district attorney? And how does an investigation work? The public prosecutor’s office also used the “Girls’ Day” to introduce themselves to the students from the eighth grade onwards and to introduce the girls to the professions and the training paths required for them. There are also many areas of employment in administration where female employees are urgently needed.
Actions took place in Linz and Wels, but also in Salzburg, which is part of the Linz District Attorney’s Office. A “justice challenge” with a quiz was held for the girls in the jury room of the Linz regional court. The winners can look forward to a ride in the police boat and a visit to the Salzburg prison. “The young ladies were very interested, we would be happy to welcome one or the other to an interview in the next few years,” said Linz public prosecutor Ulrike Breiteneder.
