GNTM finalist makes a stopover in Wels

Fashion entrepreneur Ingrid Gumpelmaier-Grandl from Eferding, GNTM participant Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey and the photographer Sabine Starmayr

On her 1,600-kilometer walk to Paris, “Germany’s Next Top Model” finalist Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey stopped in Wels yesterday. As reported, the model, who studied ecology, wants to use her “Walk4Future” to set an example against fashion overproduction and overconsumption. Because the fast fashion industry produces more and more, faster and cheaper at the expense of the environment and the climate. “It’s important to me to use resources carefully, whether it’s clothing, food, water or electricity,” emphasizes the Klosterneuburg native, who highlights environmentally friendly companies at her stops along the way.

In the Wels photo studio of Sabine Starmayr, who is known for her strong female portraits and who organized the appointment in Wels, she slipped into clothes by the fashion designer Ingrid Gumpelmaier-Grandl. The woman from Eferding has been running her company Fairytale for 15 years and has her eco-fair fashion, accessories and gift items manufactured in small factories in Nepal. Together with her local partners, she has already gone through several crises such as the earthquake disaster and Corona. In May she will travel to Nepal again. “Our next project is a new hall for the screen printing shop. I’m also taking an artisan with me who will show the local employees how to make jewelry,” reports Gumpelmaier-Grandl. The fabrics are all printed in Nepal.

Fashion with symbolic power

Model Martina posed yesterday in a blue Fairytale dress, which is intended to symbolize a strong women’s network with depictions of very different women. The fashion is available online and through around 150 retail partners. “We have a lot of regular customers who shop consciously and who like our philosophy and want to support it,” says Gumpelmaier-Grandl.
