Mom is still a girl for everything – especially when it comes to housework and children. This is shown by a survey by Vorwerk Austria with the market research institute TQS. Whatever you mean by “good food for children”, in many cases the responsibility lies with mothers:
Half (52 percent) of the 500 parents surveyed said that both legal guardians provide nutrition.
However, in more than a third of cases (37 percent) it is only the mothers.
If you ask mothers, the distribution looks different: 51 percent of them say they are solely responsible, in 41 percent of cases it is both parents and only one percent of women say that fathers alone are responsible for food.
Mothers offer vegetables more often
According to the survey, it is more important to mothers that their children eat a warm, home-cooked meal at least once a day (men: 64 percent, women: 78 percent) and primarily drink water (men: 41 percent, women: 60 percent).
They also cook significantly more often: 80 percent of women do this “once a day” (men: 60 percent).

In women, children consume fruit more often (women: 82 percent, men: 68 percent) and vegetables (women: 68 percent, fathers: 52 percent).
Men, on the other hand, eat out with their children more often in restaurants (men: 45 percent, women: 31 percent), fast food (men: 42 percent, women: 32 percent), ready meals (men: 58 percent, women: 43 percent), and order more often from the delivery service (men: 31 percent, women: 16 percent).
Single parent: More fast food
Another trend: single parents eat out more often in restaurants with their children (single parents: 41 percent, non-single parents: 8 percent).
Fast food is also becoming more of a focus: 33 percent of single parents say that they eat it “at least several times a week”. In comparison, only 9 percent of non-single parents said this.
In addition, single parents order more often from the delivery service (51 percent, non-single parents: 17 percent).
