Only parts of the Innviertel on the border with Germany could be affected by the weather on Thursday, which will affect the rest of the country on Friday. A low pressure area is approaching from the east, and severe storms are expected in France and Germany. Fortunately, this disruptive influence only reaches Upper Austria in a weaker form. “There is no weather warning, the wind peaks are at 50 km/h,” explains Ortner.
It’s going to be rainy
So on Thursday it could rain in the western Innviertel, on Friday rain clouds will spread from the Salzkammergut. Showers and light thunderstorms are expected across the country from midday. “The drop in temperature is relatively significant, from 26 degrees on Thursday to 16 to 17 degrees on Friday. But that is within the usual range for May,” says the meteorologist.
Things are looking up again on Saturday: rain is only falling sporadically and the disruptive influence is subsiding. The maximum temperatures are around 18 degrees, and the wind also dies down.
On Sunday up to 20 degrees are possible, only in the Mühlviertel there may be short showers. The start of next week tends to be milder before it gets rainy again on Wednesday or Thursday. “At the moment the forecast situation after Sunday is still relatively uncertain, so a lot can still change,” says meteorologist Christian Ortner.
