For ASK St. Valentin in the Upper Austrian Football League on Saturday against bottom team SPG Wels 1b, it will probably be the game of the last chance: The Lower Austrians are currently in second to last place – and according to the current table standings, should be in the after-season Relegation fight against the best runner-up in the state leagues to stay in the highest league in the state. If more than one Upper Austrian team is relegated from the regional league, St. Valentin would have to be relegated as the penultimate team.
Regardless of which league the club will be in next season: Michael Windischhofer, most recently with regional league team Naarn, will be in charge of the sidelines from summer onwards. While interim coach Gerald Engleder is supposed to achieve the miracle of staying in the league in the remaining six rounds, Windischhofer is supposed to initiate a real new start: St. Valentin’s squad is about to undergo a rejuvenation treatment.
