Detained since Monday for their involvement in the false complaint against the presidential candidate, Papasso and Díaz wait for prosecutor Fleitas to advance with the investigation to determine the scope of the events. The main unknown is that, as Romina Celeste pointed out – about the fact that there are “people behind” who promised her to be a deputy – and as Orsi’s legal team believes – about a deliberate and planned “instigation campaign” -, there may be other people involved in the plot.

The public recognition of the falsehood behind the complaint against Orsi, which accused him of having physically assaulted the sex worker in 2014, was the news over the weekend; which led to the first judicial movements in this regard. However, and despite the fact that prosecutor Fleitas ordered the arrest of those who would, in principle, be the main people involved —Díaz, as the complainant; and Papasso, as the instigator—from the defense of the pre-candidate understand that the conditions are not given guarantee, since the magistrate had known for a week about the spurious status of the complaint and, in any case, kept the case open.
For this reason, the team led by the former Court prosecutor Jorge Diaz requested that the new crimes be investigated under the orbit of a Montevideo Prosecutor’s Office, since they were committed in the country’s capital, where Paula Díaz made the complaint. In this case, the new cause could be remade in the 9th Shift Flagrant Prosecutor’s Officein charge of Fernando Romando.
For Jorge Díaz, Papasso was “in some way taught or prepared in the Argentinian republic, because these types of operations are very common there.”
Romina Celeste wants a reparation agreement
Both women involved risk being charged with the crime of defamation and simulation of a crime, which punishes anyone who “knowingly reports to the judicial or police authority, or to the Jutep or before a public official who has the obligation to address such authorities, a crime that has not been committed, or that simulates the signs of a crime, in such a way that the initiation of a criminal procedure for its investigation is appropriate” with a penalty which ranges from three months in prison to three years in penitentiary.
Although it is a crime that has a minimum sentence that can be released from prison, in the case of Papasso, who already has a precedent for the conviction of when he attacked a municipal official at the president’s event. Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Montevideo, He could be imprisoned.
For this reason, already knowing, Romina Celeste declared to the press that she asked Orsi a reparation agreement for everything caused. Prior to this, the nationalist militant had already publicly apologized.
For Papasso, “they want to keep her in prison for quite some time,” and her participation in politics will not be such, at least, for the next five years. “I give him all my strength that he will surely be the next president of all Uruguayans,” he said about Orsi, and emphasized: “(I ask him) if he gives me this opportunity to make this reparation and not go to prison.”
