The Rieder city festival was originally also included in the city’s events calendar. Accordingly, it should have taken place from August 1st to 3rd. An event with the Upper Austrian brass band association would have been planned on the opening day. This date is off the table and the city festival can no longer be found in the current event calendar.
In the past few days, the topic has been discussed a lot, especially on social networks. Above all, the question of whether there is a city festival or not. A local Ried politician finally posted on Facebook on May 3rd: “The Ried city festival will take place from August 14th to 17th.
So yes? We asked Stefan Schmid, the project manager of Rieder city marketing. A city festival like 2022 will definitely not take place. The problem was the long period of uncertainty in the city’s budget negotiations. However, according to Schmid, there will be an event on the main square from August 14th to 17th under the motto “Summer Festival”.
On the long weekend (August 15th is the Assumption Day) several events take place, such as the popular Harley-Davidson charity tour and a vintage car ride. Live music and the involvement of Ried’s restaurants and retailers are planned, says Schmid. There will also be several “Moonlight events” at Roßmarkt and Rainerstraße in the coming months.
The event begins on May 23rd with the Roßmarkt, which becomes a pedestrian zone with live music and an extensive range of restaurants that evening. A moonlight evening will take place on Rainerstrasse on June 20th.
