“I am realistic, we know well that such investments are usually delayed,” said Czarnecka. The current government under Donald Tusk is revising the entire energy and climate planning from the time of Mateusz Morawiecki. Westinghouse Electric is to build the power plant near the Baltic Sea coast. However, a financing model does not yet exist.
Several nuclear power plants are being planned
A number of European countries want to build nuclear power plants again. The British Hinkley Point project was originally scheduled to come into operation in 2023. However, it will become significantly more expensive, estimated at around 50 billion euros, and, according to the latest estimates, will be delayed until at least 2029. The last time a nuclear power plant in Europe went into operation in Finland was in 2023. It was actually supposed to be finished in 2009. The costs have quadrupled compared to the original plans.
