Garsten/St.Ulrich syndicate takes part in the largest youth tournament

The proud winning team travels to Sweden. SKF boss R. Zeillinger congratulated.

Football recently reigned supreme at SKF Steyr’s “Meet the World” football tournament: six teams with powerful young players fought with all their might to win the tournament. In the end, the syndicate of SV Garsten/USV St. Ulrich came out on top and won. Now the boys are off to the world’s largest international youth football tournament, the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg.

2024 is the year of the European Football Championship. And the SKF Group is in no way inferior: SKF in Sweden has been the proud main sponsor of the Gothia Cup for years. The event stands for teamwork, responsibility, equal opportunities and commitment to the world’s youth.

To qualify, “Meet the World” preliminary tournaments are held annually at SKF locations around the world – one of which took place at the ASV Behamberg/Haidershofen football pitch at the weekend under the organizational leadership of SKF Steyr. Six regional U15 teams were nominated for the tournament by SKF Steyr: ASV Behamberg/Haidershofen, ATSV Stein, SPG SV Garsten/USV St. Ulrich, SV Molln, DSG Union Großraming and UTC Seitenstetten. Everyone was enthusiastically involved. No wonder. The winners travel to the big international Gothia Cup in Gothenburg from July 14th to 20th.

After exciting matches, the winning team of the SKF Steyr tournament was determined in the afternoon: the syndicate of SV Garsten and USV St. Ulrich won the coveted main prize, participation in the Gothia Cup 2024. SKF Austria board member Robert Zeillinger and SKF Steyr human resources manager Tina Hohenthanner, together with Bernhard Lengauer from TTI Steyr and Franz Burghuber from ASV Behamberg/Haidershofen, congratulated each kicker with a handshake and personally presented the trophies, certificates and medals. “It was a really very impressive and exciting football tournament. We saw some great games and congratulate all the teams on their achievements,” said Zeillinger, who is now keeping his fingers crossed for the tournament in Gothenburg.
