Linz and the Ukrainian partner city Zaporizhzhia want to deepen their cooperation in areas such as administration, mobility, economy, waste recycling, education and culture. City councilor Dietmar Prammer and the new mayor of Zaporizhia agreed on this yesterday in Kiev. The action plan between Linz and the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia envisages the exchange of knowledge and experiences, joint projects and the use of international funds. “Supporting the reconstruction of this economically strong industrial region and important university city also brings about a mutual exchange of knowledge,” says Prammer. The importance of cultural connections and the promotion of contemporary Ukrainian culture in Linz is particularly emphasized.

Aid deliveries from Linz
Due to the war, cooperation with the southern Ukrainian city focused on the delivery of civilian relief supplies. “Over the past few months, donations in kind have met at least the most basic needs of the suffering population of our sister city. More intensive cooperation makes sense because it further strengthens the critical infrastructure on site,” says the city councilor Michael Raml (FP), who is responsible for town twinning.
