Next Friday, May 17th, the women of UTC Fischer Ried will serve in the tennis Bundesliga with an away game at the Grazer Park Club. The away game at KLC (Klagenfurt) continues on Sunday. Last season, the Rieders with team leader Florian Reiter narrowly missed out on the title. In the final they lost to the “Linz AG” team 3:4.
Two years ago, the Rieder women finished the season in third place and in 2021 in second place. However, it is not guaranteed that things will continue this year for the Rieders, who are used to success.
Kraus plays in Paris
Team captain Florian Reiter sees his team in an outsider role this year. “We are not going to Graz and Klagenfurt as favorites. Our number one Sinja Kraus is playing the qualification for the French Open in Paris and is not available to us. In general, we have a major personnel problem due to several ailing or injured players,” says Reiter in OÖN -Conversation.
The priority is to stay in the league. “But that doesn’t mean that reaching the semi-finals is out of the question. We can beat any team, but that certainly depends on the line-up of the respective opponents,” says the Rieder team captain.
