“All available emergency services were ordered to Spittelwiese,” confirmed Barbara Riedl from the state police headquarters in an interview with nachrichten.at at 10:20 a.m. A bomb threat is said to have been received at 10 a.m. According to media reports, the threat was apparently received by the Landhaus police station and was specifically directed against the academic high school.
The area around the academic high school is currently cordoned off. Riedl confirmed that an 80 meter radius around the building was closed. Residents of the adjacent buildings are being asked via megaphone to stay safe in their apartments.
Bomb-sniffing dogs and Cobra are in action, and heavily armed police have taken up positions in the area. According to a police spokeswoman, the background is still unclear. An alleged Islamist background cannot currently be confirmed by the police.
