You can now experience a sunrise in a mountain. That’s right – not on, but in. Artist Siegfried A. Fruhauf illuminates a tunnel in the Hochlindach quarry, usually called Karbach, above the Traunsee (east bank) with a hundred construction site lamps that flicker one after the other – it is an almost mystical spectacle.

The Upper Austrian’s installation “Alpenglühen Karbach” is not even the highest contribution to the “Villa Karbach” project, which is designed by the Capital of Culture as an expedition that wants to connect art, country and people: Linz resident Isa Stein becomes a white heart in the summer shovel directly on the plateau of the quarry.
