Until now, there are some sectors of the factory that continue to operate but that the union does not rule out stopping in case the negotiations do not reach a good outcome. “There are sectors that we call essential, such as the boiler room and machinery that make the factory operational, that leaving them without guard would mean more of a problem than a solution,” Ferreira explained to Radio Carve.

“As a union, another sector that we have not yet affected is distribution. We understand that if the situation deepens and we do not see changes in the negotiation on this issue, distribution will be affected first in Montevideo and later in the interior of the country,” he added.

Shortage?

For the moment, the union leader ruled out the possibility of a shortage, based on the fact that distributors still have a large amount of stock, although in the future he admitted that it could be affected.

However, Ferreira stressed that the products sold by the sector are not a primary necessity. “The products that we sell are not a primary necessity for the consumer and that is why we do not have an obligation to maintain the complete distribution chain as in other cases,” he explained.
