The great Covid-19 pandemic is over, but SARS-CoV-2 is still more dangerous than seasonal influenza, with a higher mortality rate if the disease progresses. US scientists found this out in an epidemiological comparative study. “In the fall and winter of 2022/2023, people hospitalized with Covid-19 had 60 percent higher mortality than hospital patients with severe seasonal influenza,” explained Yan Xie and his co-authors from the St. Louis Health Care System (US state of Missouri).
