The Greens have little to laugh about at the moment. Before the EU elections on June 9, their top candidate Lena Schilling is facing numerous accusations, and the party leadership has so far stood unanimously behind the 23-year-old.
A smear campaign by as yet unknown persons in the municipality of Regau is not really funny, but it could still be described as unintentionally funny.
The Greens’ EU election posters were daubed with blue paint and clear slogans. Instead of “Because it’s about the climate,” it now says “We’re voting blue.” However, without the letter H. The “Blauwäler” also daubed other posters, including the slogan “Traitor”, this time spelled correctly.
Recently, however, FPÖ posters have repeatedly been the target of “embellishments”. In Waidhofen an der Ybss, unknown people quickly turned the well-known (and often criticized) election slogan “Stop EU madness” into “Stop FPÖ madness”. More Freedom Party posters were destroyed.
