After 2017 and 2018, the Traun team is not only aiming for a third cup triumph, but also for the double in the current season. “We know that we are the favorites for many because we are also at the top of the league. But we also know how difficult it is to keep living up to that. We will make sure that we do our job and hopefully win the final,” says Oedt coach Kurt Russ.
The Innviertel team, on the other hand, senses the chance to also end the season with a trophy. They are looking for revenge against Traun: Ostermiething lost the most recent league duel 0:9. “We still have something to make up for,” says Ostermiething coach Christoph Mühllechner.
The champion will be rewarded with prize money of 10,000 euros and a starting place in the ÖFB Cup, while the losing finalist will receive 5,000 euros.
Vice-champion senses cup ticket
Some league rivals will probably be keeping their fingers crossed for Oedt in the final, because if the favorite wins, the starting place in the ÖFB Cup would go to the runner-up in the state’s highest league, as Oedt has already qualified for this competition as champions. This is not the only reason why second place in the OÖ league is currently hotly contested: two rounds before the end of the season, second-placed Weißkirchen (49 points) and seventh-placed Edelweiss Linz (45 points) are only separated by four points.
