According to police, witnesses called officers to the A661 on Sunday morning. The turtle had been seen on a lane near Heddernheim. A patrol car was on its way, but nothing and no one needed to be rescued. The turtle had made it across the road unharmed.
It crossed at least three lanes without being hit. A driver had stopped on the hard shoulder and was holding the turtle in his arms when the police arrived. The reptile, named Lucky, was taken to an animal shelter.
