After several party guests at a bar on Sylt chanted racist “Foreigners out,” the public prosecutor’s office has now intervened and is investigating a woman and two men. A video that has gone viral and is said to have been recorded at Pentecost shows young people chanting “Foreigners out” to the tune of “L’amour toujours” by Gigi D’Agostino. Similar cases are said to have occurred in Austria as well.
The incident sparked great outrage – even among local radio stations. According to several media reports, both Ö3 and Kronehit have removed the song from their programs. The Upper Austrian private station Life Radio is currently not playing Gigi D’Agostino’s party hit. “But it is not played either – even if it is requested,” said program director Matthias Dietinger in response to an OÖN query. The aim is to prevent something like this from becoming fashionable.
