Drunk driver landed on McDonald’s terrace with car

The 20-year-old lost control of his car, drove off the road, broke through a fence and came to a stop on the terrace. The driver and his 21-year-old passenger then removed the license plates from the car and fled, but they were found near the scene of the accident.

Witnesses had seen the two men removing the license plates shortly after 1:20 a.m. and informed the police. When they were checked, the men initially gave contradictory statements, but then admitted to having been driving in the car involved in the accident. Regarding the cause of the accident, the 20-year-old stated that the car’s brakes failed at a speed of 80 to 90 km/h and then locked up on the second attempt to brake. This caused him to veer off the Zillertalstrasse (B169). The police were unable to find any skid marks, and the car was confiscated on the orders of the public prosecutor. The 20-year-old does not currently have a driver’s license.

Both men suffered injuries in the accident and were taken to hospital by ambulance. The furniture on the terrace was significantly damaged.
