Police in Germany searched for bicycle and accidentally found woman’s body

According to current findings, she died after a violent crime, and a suspected perpetrator has been arrested. The 37-year-old, who is known to the police on several occasions, is being investigated for manslaughter, the Neubrandenburg police station announced on Thursday. The man apparently knew the woman from Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, he was not a family member or related to her.

Police officers had actually gone to the apartment building on Wednesday evening because they suspected a stolen bicycle had been found there. They then reportedly discovered the lifeless woman through a window. According to initial findings, she had already been dead for some time.

37-year-old in police custody

Shortly before the body was found, officers were already on duty because of the 37-year-old. The heavily intoxicated man had behaved aggressively towards pedestrians in Neustrelitz. An officer on his way home from work observed what was happening, intervened and alerted his colleagues.

According to reports, the 37-year-old was supposed to be taken to a hospital because of his mental state. However, due to the increased suspicion of the crime, he was taken into police custody. He remained there on Thursday afternoon. The public prosecutor’s office is examining an application for an arrest warrant, a spokeswoman for the justice department said.
