Hamas says it is ready for a full deal if Israel stops its attacks

The Palestinian organization Hamas offered an agreement that includes an exchange of hostages and prisoners if Israel stops its offensive in the city of Rafah, questioned by the International Court of Justice.

Hamas expressed its willingness to sign an agreement.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) this Thursday expressed his willingness to close a complete agreement with Israel, if this country stops its attacks on the Gaza Strip. He even claimed to be willing to exchange hostages in its possession by Palestinian prisoners.

“Today we informed the mediators of our clear position that If the occupation ends its war and aggression against our people in Gaza, our willingness (is) to reach a complete agreement that includes a comprehensive exchange agreement,” Hamas said in a statement released Thursday.

Hamas’ offer comes amid a strong Israeli offensive in the city of Rafahin southern Gaza, despite an order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest court of the United Nations, to stop the attacks. At this moment, the conversations to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in which Egypt and Qatar, among others, have mediated, are stagnant.

The Israel’s offensive against Rafah began on May 6, after rejecting a ceasefire proposal presented by Egypt and Qatar that had received the support of Hamas, considering it insufficient. To justify its attack on the city of Rafah, Israel claims that its objective is the rescue of hostages and the eradication of Hamas fighters.

From the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Almost 36,000 Palestinians have died, including children and babies, in Israel’s military attacks in the Gaza Strip. Israel began its offensive in response to the Hamas attack on communities in southern Israel on October 7 last year, where they murdered nearly 1,200 people and captured more than 250 hostages, according to the Israeli government.
