Student (25) fell while hiking on Krippenstein – seriously injured

Eight students from the University of Vienna and six accompanying persons came to the Schönbergalm in Obertraun on Thursday. The plan was to complete a multi-day training course there with a focus on cave research. On the day of their arrival, the students drove to the Dachstein plateau with their instructor around midday to explore the area.

Slipped on a slippery path

Finally, the group hiked about 700 meters downhill to their hut. It was around 7:45 p.m. when a student (25) fell on the slippery hiking trail. He seriously injured his knee. After receiving first aid, the Lower Austrian was taken to the valley and handed over to the Bad Goisern rescue service. The paramedics took the 25-year-old to the hospital in Bad Ischl for further treatment.
