Two bicycle thieves from Hungary were caught during a check in Aistersheim (Grieskirchen district): The two men, aged 29 and 30, had three e-bikes and three expensive mountain bikes in their van when they were stopped by an officer from the Tumeltsham police station. They were unable to provide proof of ownership of the six bicycles.
While the operation was still underway, the police received a call from colleagues in Wels. A German man had reported that he had tracked his missing e-bike using an Apple Air Tag and located it in Aistersheim. A quick comparison with cell phone photos confirmed that one of the bikes in the van belonged to the man.
In one of the two suspects’ bags, the police found burglary tools and forced bicycle locks. When questioned, the two Hungarians did not confess. They will be reported, the police announced in the evening.
