Team manager Ralf Rangnick’s starting line-up included Patrick Pentz in goal, Kevin Danso and Maximilian Wöber in central defence, Florian Grillitsch in the centre, Romano Schmid and Wimmer on the wings and captain Marko Arnautovic as striker. As in their recent matches, the Austrians started at full speed against the Serbs – Baumgartner unsuccessfully appealed for a penalty after just eight seconds following a shove from Uros Spajic.
