It is an announcement that makes people sit up and take notice – not least because it comes from Adolf Hitler’s birthplace Braunau: The Bauhoftheater is showing George Tabori’s classic play “Mein Kampf” in Braunau as part of this year’s theater summer. “Stage production of this brilliant piece in Braunau has been on our agenda for a long time,” says director Robert Ortner – the OÖN reported.
Provocation or artistic coming to terms with history? It’s about the latter. As a complement to the Bauhoftheater’s theater project, the Braunau Contemporary History Association invites you to an informative lecture by the Salzburg historian Othmar Plöckinger. He has studied the creation and publication history of Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” in depth and will be giving a lecture on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:30 p.m. in the Raiffeisen Service Center in Braunau entitled “Adolf Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ – the creation, distribution and significance of this book.” The historian will also answer questions from the audience.
The Bauhoftheater will premiere the humorous, profound and bitterly humorous play “Mein Kampf” on Thursday, July 11th, 8 p.m., on the church square in Braunau.
As always, the Bauhoftheater ensemble is made up of professionals and amateurs. Patrick Brenner takes on the role of the young Hitler. Guido Drell plays Schlomo Herzl, one of the two Jews with whom the young Hitler lives in a men’s hostel in Vienna while he applies to the art academy. This year, the Braunau-born musician Rudolf Wakolbinger composed the soundtrack for the piece based on classical music.

Open-air concert: Swing and hits by “Eddie Luis & Die Gnadenlosen” on the open-air stage at the Oberer Stadtplatz on Wednesday, July 3, 7 p.m., admission free.
Music and dance: Together with the “One World” initiative, a concert by the “Mozart Consort Salzburg” will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 8 p.m. on the church square. There will be everything from bolero to fandango to tango. Admission is free.
