According to initial forecasts, thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail are expected to begin in the Salzkammergut at 7 p.m. After that, the storms are expected to move mainly over the Innviertel and Mühlviertel. The central area could also be affected. “It’s not expected to be stormy. But there could definitely be hail this evening,” says a meteorologist.
“Flooding possible”
The heavy rain will be particularly problematic. “We are expecting 20 to 30 litres of rain to fall in a short space of time,” says the expert. “Small-scale flooding is definitely possible.” According to initial forecasts, the storms are expected to have passed over Upper Austria from midnight onwards.
