Once again, a serious moped accident has occurred on Upper Austria’s roads: After a 16-year-old boy from Innviertel had to undergo emergency surgery on Friday following a collision with a car, a similar accident occurred on Saturday morning in the municipality of Steinhaus near Wels (Wels-Land district).

A 15-year-old moped driver, who was riding with his 14-year-old friend on the pillion, wanted to turn from an access road onto Eberstalzeller Straße in the town of Taxlberg. The two-wheeler was hit by a car driven by a 58-year-old woman from the Wels-Land district. The collision was so violent that the boys were thrown from the moped and were left lying on the road with serious injuries.
By helicopter to the hospital
The 14-year-old was particularly badly affected: he had to be treated by an emergency doctor and then taken to the accident hospital in Linz by rescue helicopter. After receiving initial treatment, the 15-year-old was taken to the hospital in Wels by rescue services, police said on Saturday afternoon.
