The risk of flooding in Upper Austria has not yet been averted: the state’s hydrographic service expects the situation to worsen again over the course of the day. “Due to the flooding on the Tyrolean Inn and the thunderstorms and partly extensive heavy rainfall in the Bavarian catchment area of ​​the Inn last night, the water levels on the Inn and subsequently on the Upper Austrian Danube will rise over the course of the day,” they said in a press release on Monday morning.

This means that today, Monday afternoon, the Inn in Schärding is expected to exceed the warning limit of 520 centimeters. At 6 a.m. the water level there was 440 centimeters, and 560 centimeters is forecast for Tuesday morning. The normal water level of the Inn there is 380 to 420 centimeters. The Schärding fire brigade rebuilt the flood protection on Sunday afternoon for safety reasons.

The Danube level in Linz (now: 504 centimeters) is currently expected to just exceed the warning limit of 550 centimeters this afternoon. For comparison: the Danube level in Linz was more than seven meters last Tuesday. If the level reached 6.80 meters, the Danube would overflow its banks in the Alturfahr-West area and at the fairgrounds. Flood protection remains in place.
